“Ilona Andrews” is the pseudonym for a husband-and-wife writing team. Ilona is a native-born Russian and Gordon is a former communications sergeant in the U.S. Army. Contrary to popular belief, Gordon was never an intelligence officer with a license to kill, and Ilona was never the mysterious Russian spy who seduced him. They met in college, in English Composition 101, where Ilona got a better grade. (Gordon is still sore about that.)

Gordon and Ilona currently reside in Texas with their two children and many dogs and cats.

They have co-authored four NYT and USAT bestselling series, the urban fantasy of Kate Daniels, rustic fantasy of the Edge, paranormal romance of Hidden Legacy, and Innkeeper Chronicles, which they post as a free weekly serial. The Innkeeper Series is my favourite series written by Ilona Andrews (a husband and wife team). I've read the entire series multiple times and enjoy them each time so much. I love the whole concept of the Inn, which is such an imaginative, innovative idea that isn't in any other books that I've read. I've read this new book three times now - once on Ilona Andrews website as they added new chapters each week, then twice from my purchased book.

Ilona Andrews has a wonderful writing style - I wish more sci-fi authors were as good. The writing is clear, exposition is great, the characters are fully developed and I care about the characters and like them very, very much. The worlds are well developed with many characters, and their books are easy to follow. In this particular book, the writers are very ambitious to introduce many new peoples from other worlds for a very big event at the Inn. It is the only time in their writing that I had trouble keeping some of the peoples straight - on the positive side - we have been introduced to so many new worlds, with so many new peoples, which means the Innkeeper Series can be developed in many different ways for future books - Yay Bonus!
The story stands on it's own, but it's more enjoyable to read the entire series in order to get the full details. This new release leaves me wanting to find out about more about what happens to the characters and I'm so looking very forward to the next book in the series.

This novella is really similar to the three first books of the series, but the plot is much lighter. Dina and Sean are now both Innkeepers and they are trying to keep all of their guests alive, which seems to get harder with every passing hour as more guests just "drop by" to stay at the Inn.

Story (5/5): This is hands down my favorite series that the Andrews write. This story was in keeping with the rest of the series, which is to say that it is AMAZING! The story is back in Gertrude Hunt as Dina and Sean work together to host a variety of difficult aliens on Gertrude Hunt’s premises.

Characters (5/5): I love the characters in this series and continue to love new ones that are introduced. The lovable, intriguing and engaging characters are definitely a high point of this series.

Setting (5/5): I absolutely adore Gertrude Hunt and enjoy any story set within her premises. The extended worlds built outside of Earth are always fascinating and so well done in this series.

Writing Style (5/5): This was incredibly well written and easy to read. The story is full of creative ideas, humor, action, and amazing new aliens. This is just a perfect blend of elements that makes for a highly entertaining read!

Summary (5/5): Overall I loved this addition to the Innkeeper Chronicles, I love this series even more than the Kate Daniels series and hope Andrews decides to continue on with it for a long, long time. I would recommend reading previous books in the series before this one. I would recommend this series to people who enjoy urban fantasy with a sci-fi bent to it and a lot of humor.
