Talk of the Town Paperback – Nov. 18 2008

4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 207 ratings

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Karen Hawkins pens a delightfully sexy tale of modern love in a small Southern town.

Do Blondes Have More Fun?
Newly divorced Roxie Treymayne is dying to find out. After years of being the perfect Southern lady, all she ended up with was a cheating husband. So she goes bombshell blond, gets a provocatively placed tattoo, and prepares to live it up as a Bad Girl. But then her mother falls ill...and Roxie is forced to return to Glory, North Carolina.

He'd Love to Know.
Once the town bad boy, Nick Sheppard is now Glory's highly respected sheriff. When the hot blonde he stops for speeding turns out to be formerly prim Homecoming Queen Roxanne Treymayne, Nick doesn't quite know where to look -- though he'd like a much closer one at the tattoo peeking from her shorts.

But It Takes Two to Tango.
Roxie and Nick had a steamy fling in high school, but a love affair between a Southern princess and a boy from the wrong side of the tracks was doomed from the start. Now they have a second chance. Can they get it right? Or will they just end up...the talk of the town?

Fun all the way ! Slow burn romance for a couple who found each other again after 15 years. Loved the small town antics and the 'Hot Cop' ! 4.5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious and zanny characters....

This book is totally worth buying!! I bought this book after reading a few reviews expecting to get some laughs, but what I got was rip roaring comedy and the most zanny and quirky characters that just made me wish the story never ended.

I can't wait for the next installment of Glory, North Carolina's residents. I have to really commend Karen Hawkins' sense of humor. The condom scene is just one that made me laugh so hard because it was just so unexpected and just so hilarious.

All I can say is that everyone should just go buy this book and make sure to keep it in your keepers shelf so that you can come back and laugh often with the folks of Glory, N.C.

:oP Smile!

2.0 out of 5 stars Etwas enttäuschend

3.0 out of 5 stars Readable but overall disappointing

First of all the good - hats off to Karen Hawkins for trying something new. The characters are engaging, the premise of the town of Glory believable and there were some genuinely funny moments with the fantastic elderly crowd of the Murder Mystery Club.

The book was readable and I didn't end it thinking that I wasted my money, I did however feel that it could have been much better than it was. The plot moved too slowly and by about two thirds of the way through I was getting impatient for something - anything! - to happen. As the 'mystery' did come to its conclusion I was left disappointed - without spoiling it for anybody all I will say is that the 'villian' was highly obvious from the moment they were introduced into the story and frankly the ending of the 'mystery' was an utter damp squib.

There was some good in this book and seeds are sown at the end to lead into a possible sequel between Susan and Mark. I hope to see this happen and that Karen Hawkins can build on the good things from this book and rectify some of the bad.

This is the first book from the author which is set in the town of Glory. The second book,  Lois Lane Tells All  continues with some of the characters from this book.

I really enjoyed both of these stories, the second book just slightly more. The stories both have some great characters and a bit of mystery and of course, some steamy sex! A lot of fun reading and recommmended! I'll be looking for more books by the author.
