I was unable to buy this book from our local bookstore ... in store or online, so I resorted to searching on Amazon and found it. Same price as it would have been in the bookstore, if they had it in stock. My husband bought me the second book in the series for Christmas. It was the first time I had read a Michael Connelly book. It captivated my attention first paragraph and I did not want to put it down. Now I'm half way through this book, I received it 2 days ago, and began it yesterday. I have bought so many Heather's picks, and New York Bestsellers, only to struggle reading through the first 4 chapters, and finally I put it down and never pick it up again, because it just doesn't grab me. As I said, first paragraph, in the first book and this second book grabs my attention and holds it. I love it and would highly recommend this book and this author!

The Lincoln Lawyer is back, and it’s a rebounding Mickey Haller who matches wits and legal savvy with Harry Bosch. Each is working to solve the case of a murdered lawyer, and while Haller’s initial focus is to defend his client – the accused murderer, things change when he finds his own life threatened.
Connelly has done a masterful job in combining these two disparate characters into a crime-solving team. Although their relationship weighs more to the adversarial side, they come to rely on the others knowledge and inherent skills to find that thing called “justice”
Lots of action and Intrigue and those surprise twists Connelly is noted for that keep the suspense razor sharp.

Not being a regular Connelly reader this was just a casual pickup mainly due to the Lincoln lawyer link. Here unconventional Mickey Haller gets back into business after a year in rehab and retirement. Jumping into some minor cases and one big murder trial we see how they do things in LA criminal justice system. The other Connelly creation Harry Bosch is here as a cop on the case, the two butt heads but have some mutual respect. This was a good page turner, just a bit of a cheat. Written as a linear story in first person the mystery is stretched out because the narrator, Haller, leaves some important gaps out until explanations at the end. Nonetheless a good page turner and makes one look for a Bosch novel.
